I don't know whether to be impressed or depressed that ponythread's shenanigans have been almost completely halted in their entirity by what amounts to a random character selector for a good two or three solid days...

If anypony's interested, I'v managed to finish Chapter 3 of Past Lives and Forgotten Sins. I'd love to have some feedback on it.

I was working on one, then I got sidetracked by other things.
Which reminds me, I haven't done the profile thing yet, have I?
Too tired right now. I'll do it tomorrow.
For now, I'll leave you with some MST3K pony.

Re: My Little Pony XLVIII: I say Ol' Chap, how about those Equestrians?
Hey, I am too.
Well, ow, if he had any soul in him he would be moving. If theres anything left, it's probably hidden in some jar or something. I mean, I dont think he was a lich, but he was not a ghoul. In Stalliongrad, they called him The Deathless. If he did hide his soul, it's probably in some random coin in a dragon hoard or something.
Also, is that cranberry juice? I'm hungry.

Re: My Little Pony XLVIII: I say Ol' Chap, how about those Equestrians?
SpoilerChrysalis panted. After more than ten years of wandering around in a horrid wasteland, she managed to get back within pony lands. The hive was scattered, and probably had a new queen. But it did no matter now. Because she found the perfect way to get a new one started.
She tracked down where the sister of Shining Armor lived. A horrid little dump, one that she was mildly ashamed of going into. Apperently, one of her friends had left on some secret holiday while her little sister was away, and the creature taking care of her house took her breath away. Oh, perhapes it was good to be queen.
A dragon. Not just any dragon, but a plainly magical one. Just about her hight, and apperently young. One night alone, and then..... Chrysalis smiled. A new hive, bigger and stronger. Less pony and more scaly.
After making sure her white coat was just right and her purple mane was utterly, whats the world, fabulous, she opened the door and trotted over to where the half-sleeping dragon lay and promptly woke it up with a kiss.
Ah, what fun this night shall be.
I would take time to actualy making this worth to read, but then it would be against forum rules. Yep, poor spiky wiky.

Re: My Little Pony XLVIII: I say Ol' Chap, how about those Equestrians?
So on something not shipping related... so I checked out this interview with our VAs and current showrunner. From Comic-con.
Some fun tibits:
On the development of Rarity's voice:
St. Germain: When I auditioned, I think the reference they gave was Audrey Hepburn, because there's something so generous. In spite of the fact that her voice sounds really quite posh, she always extended herself a lot to other people, and that's the quality they were looking for, not specifically Audrey Hepburn. I grew up in a country called Swaziland, and a lot of people had English as a second language, but they spoke with real clarity and enunciated everything because they were always perfecting the sound, and I just like that sound. The element of the Connecticut hoity-toitiness is just fun, and it's always fun as well when a character is a bit full of themselves or a bit pretentious too. It's just a foil because there's so much ego involved that you can only go down, right? It's great to play with those opposites: I'm everything and I'm nothing, I'm everything and I'm nothing. Which is an actor's entire life.
St. Germain: For me, the most significant character change is that I had a sudden family. I had a sister and a mom and dad, and I was the only one in the family who spoke in this particular way. That was a choice they made in the other room. Did I voice the mom? I think I may have, yeah, and I said "Should I do the same voice?" and they said "No, she's just normal." So that was peculiar but interesting, because you just have to integrate whatever you get, and it becomes part of the fun. That means something, then, about Rarity. It means she's not from New England or indeed from anywhere. She's made a choice to speak the way she speaks and be the way she is.
On the possibility of a full-length movie:
McCarthy: No. Not with me.
On the homage to The Big Lebowski and easter eggs in the show:
McCarthy: Very rarely are those things written into the script, but then when it goes to Studio B and the board artists and Jayson Thiessen, supervising director, I think they have a lot of fun. They have to populate this world with these background ponies and they're like "oh, they're at a bowling alley, eh?"
On the emotional impact of the show among fans, including one who said that seeing the show stopped him from killing himself:
Weseluck: I've had so many people, all of us have had so many people come up to us and say "if it weren't for the show, I wouldn't be here. My life wouldn't have changed, I would've stayed lonely and depressed, I had no friends" and you're just brought to tears. This show, to me, is healing the world. It's healing levels that have not been touched before, or that we've pushed away or denied, and if the show can do that, and there has to be no mental assessment or figuring it out, it's just simply happening? This is miraculous. It's a true, genuine success, and I'm thrilled to be part of that.

Re: My Little Pony XLVIII: I say Ol' Chap, how about those Equestrians?
Err, oh gwa-
Okay, wooh!
SpoilerFeatherweight was on a role. His newest gig was photographing nature, and whats a better place to find nature than in the giant forest right next to his home? As he is traveling, he spots something near a cave mouth. Something long and twiggy. "A deer?" he thought. "I mean, Whitetail Woods is not that far away, perhapes...." And so, he went near the mouth.
The cave was bigger than he thought. The deer was plainly hiding. There where plenty of gems around, but it was too dark for the photos to develop. He occasionaly spotted the deer, but it always ran away. As Featherweight marched on, he hardly knew that how far he was down in the ground.
Featherweight eventualy came to a grand sight. A massive space in the ground, a hole you could fit Ponyville into, in fact. He could probably fly to one end of the space and not make it to the other end of it in a hour. A movement behind him made him jump, and he saw a strange sight.
It was him. Small, long of legs, and kind of...cute? Before he could say much, the "deer" pointed it's hoof at him. No, not him, but behind him. He simply turned his head, and screamed.
It was a bear. A giant star bear that snuck up on him, dispite being larger than ponyvilles city hall. It looked confused at the two little ponies in it's lair. After a few moments of Featherweight preparing to be consumed by it, it did something that he would have never expected. The Ursa stuck out it's tounge and gave both of the little ponies a playful lick.
There, no effort in this. Still fun to write.

Re: My Little Pony XLVIII: I say Ol' Chap, how about those Equestrians?
Honestly, speaking AS a native of Fairfield county, I can honestly say that nobody naturally sounds anything like Rarity. Her accent has been identified as Mid-Atlantic, which is an artificial blend of American and British accents typically learned for theatre acting, and particularly popular from 1930-1960.
If brute force isn't working, that just means you're not using enough of it.

Re: My Little Pony XLVIII: I say Ol' Chap, how about those Equestrians?
Well she didn't want to say it but Rarity's accent is that stereotypically upper class WASP accent which IS associated with New England generally. And in CT upper income bracket is more Fairfield (and some Litchfield) county then it is the rest of the state. NYC metro area and all. I just can speak to what portions of the other states in New England its associated with. Of course Bridgeport should more then cancel that out in a fair world.I once saw Gotham mapped to about there in Young Justice and did not disagree.
Really in all of New England (and NY because that erroneously gets lumped in too) people don't have accents. Well beyond "American" of course.Last edited by Soras Teva Gee; 2012-07-15 at 07:25 PM.

Tumblr;
I'm sure I've seen Thanqol post a couple of Tumblr-images in his Drawthread over the past week or so, no idea if they were intended to be actually used on the Tumblr itself though, or just as inspiration for his drawin's.

Re: My Little Pony XLVIII: I say Ol' Chap, how about those Equestrians?
SpoilerI think he looks like a Changeling. The horn has the right shape to it. The eyes are a similar green to Crysallis's. The black color and fangs similarily remind me of Changelings. His build does appear much more sturdy then your average changeling though, and there are other parts of him that suggest something more demonic then insectoid, which remind me of Ganondorf or Aku. Still the Changeling vibe is there, adding more credibility to the theory that the Crystal Ponies have been corrupted into Changelings, and this is their emperor.
actually what about the two ponies from the Hearts and Hooves Day episode love potion story? If they were the first Changelings, and we are now seeing the prince from said story while Crysallis was the princess?

Have been away celebrating this weekend, will work on my next Changeling replies for next weekend.
It does look cool indeed. I'm still trying to decide on a good mechanic for a PbP.
It's basically a toss up between this and Roleplaying Is Magic at the moment. The other PonyTales seems more suited for DnD style gaming. Am still reading more.
