It's part of the founding ethos. Hipsters hung out in coffee shops and used Macs before either was really big.

Go back 15 years, and you won't see a coffee bar on every street corner. Back then, apple was used by people who scoffed at those IBM-compatible fools with their viruses and their plethora of different programs and games.

If binders are hipsters, warlocks are mall goths. Tell me this outfit was not purchased at Hot Topic.

Binder: "Yeah, I'm into black magic. Nothing you've heard of though."

Warlock: "Dude, me too! Have you heard of Eldritch Blast???"

See, now this just makes me think that the binder is like the guy in high school who claims he has a totally hot girlfriend who lives in Canada, so no, you don't know her.

Congratulations, you can link to TV Tropes. This does not mean you have special insight into the storytelling process, much less the author's mind. Stories don't need to fit into neat boxes, you know.

Hmm. If I ever found a band (unlikely), I'll sell out ironically.

I think I'll also buy a totally sarcastic 27 room villa and an ironic private jet.

Oh yeah, I used to think about playing a binder, but that was before they got all popular. Now I just play this obscure Truenamer PrC, you've probably never heard of it, I got it at my local gaming store as part of a limited run of Dragon mags that got recalled and then reprinted, but I got one, and, man, it's like even more outside the tier system than Truenamer, and....

Which is sort of the point. Who has time to self evaluate, when there are people who are making decisions for themselves and are going un-mocked?
