Red's spell shows that the cage is meant to be impenetrable, especially to spirts, ghosts, and other ethereal creatures. The cage bars are magically reinforced to be nigh-unbreakable, and there are a few spells meant to incapacitate any physical creature who touches it. He also discovers a summoning circle on the floor of the cage, unnoticed because of the dirt inside. Nothing should be able to get in or out of it.

And then Ondros's blindsense triggers. Something invisible is coming up the pole.
