He kicks the pyramid with one boot. It doesn't clunk like wrought iron should, but rings like a church bell. The air above it shimmers and coagulates into an oblong vertical mass, translucent and faintly gray. Two smaller masses separate from its sides. Two holes open near its uppermost point, jet-black and vacuous. They seem to stare at each of you in turn.
