I'll give Navigation a whirl, then. If I fail, will I be lost or just delayed? I.e. can I still work my way back the way we originally came?

Edit: Well that's not a result I want to rely on. If failing means getting properly lost, assume Severin backtracked the original way. If he only expects to be delayed a bit, I suppose I'll have to stick with the roll.
