I just hang the front cover and any previous months together on the nail in my wall.

I do that as well, but has not prevented November from ripping and having to be fixed. But I too recommend the reinforcement stickers as the standard way to solve this issue. They even come in various sizes, so I found one that was about right for the hole in the calendar.
