The MLP Wiki list of ponies gives a very complete list with names and pictures - probably too complete, since some entries are just variants on background ponies (e.g. 'Silver String' who is Lyra, but without a horn and wearing a bonnet). The table is hopefully reasonably machine-readable? There's also the characters page which is a bit more restricted.

Incidentally, you can show in a few ways that the total number of two-distinct-pony ships in a set of N ponies is N(N-1)/2. If you allow ponies to be shipped with themselves, e.g. [1], [2], that goes up to N(N+1)/2.
