A brush on called Liquetex(?). I tried to water it down 50% when applying it as well.
I normally spray on, but the weather was not good for that.*This Space Available*

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
With the Egyptian force done for Kadesh, it was time to turn to their foes. The Hittite army will be a similar sized force in bases, but it has a very different composition from the Egyptians.
For this force, I am still using Baccus 6mm minis on 60x60mm bases. Most of my techniques for painting these guys will be the same.
This first batch will complete about 1/3rd of the army!
If you would like to learn more about the project, you can see the first blog about the Hittites on the blog:

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
I am still forging ahead on my Battle of Kadesh armies that go along with me latest "In-Progress" rules set In Strife and Conflict. This project began in earnest in 2023, but the rules were written for about 5 years now. Hopefully this is the year I can get all the post-production wrapped up and I can release it.
To that end, I have been working diligently on my Hittite forces. Good progress so far with much of the infantry getting done.
You can find an army shot so far on the blog:
https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot....desh-king.html
More importantly, my 3D printed Kadesh arrived. Thanks to Kelly Watson for designing and printing it out. Kelly said he was planning on making the design available, so I will let you know when it is.
The city can fit on a CD as a base, but also has two expandable pieces to make it bigger and add some variety. I look forward to painting it and putting it on the table.*This Space Available*

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
I took a long pause away from my brushes, but I'm slowly going through the Mansions of Madness investigators
Last painted : Charlie Kane, mayor of Arkham City
The blacklining is rough, and I completely failed the NMM, but I still like how he came out :)

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
Very nice work on the suit. Hard to see the eyebrows in the photo...what did you choose to do there?
Blending on the horns looks very nice...I always preferred the ram heads to the bull heads, but yours are done well...particularly the one on the far right of the photo.

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
I am now done with the Egyptian Forces and Hittite forces for the Battle of Kadesh. In addition, I also finished painting up Kadesh itself. All the pre-work needed to play the scenario is ready. Just need to test the scenario.
You can see a ton of pictures on my blog here: https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot....of-kadesh.html
However, here are some highlights.....
Full Hittite Army
Full Egyptian Army
The painted city of Kadesh (plus inserts to expand it)
All models are from Baccus 6mm and are mounted on 60 x 60mm bases. Kadesh is a 3D print designed by Kelly Watson.*This Space Available*

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
Impressive lineup! I think my eyes would implode if I tried to paint this many 6mm minis ^^
(And I just love the city!)
I'm really happy with him, yeah. But you know how it is, you take a picture of your mini and everything you half assed or forgot suddenly just jumps to your face ^^
Thanks. Highlighting fabric is one of my favorite part in mini painting. There's something soothing in just following the volumes with my brush. :)
I usually don't paint the eyebrows, unless they're very bushy or very dark. The way I paint them usually doesn't look good.
Instead, I prefer to darken the eye and highlight the brow. That gives the illusion of eyebrows without actually painting them.Last edited by Kardwill; 2024-04-10 at 02:45 AM.

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
I painted my full Octarius Boxed Set for Kill Team in the first quarter of this year.
You can see the Orks and terrain on my blog if that is of interest to you.
https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot....-octarius.html
Not sure if I will be using these guys as a Kill Team per se, but I have all ready used the bits n bobs in actual Kill Team games. Therefore a net win. I will probably use these in various small skirmish games I have so a good addition to my painted minis collection.*This Space Available*

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
I've just come into a copy of vintage HeroQuest. I've painted up the four hero figures and the Chaos Warriors in an afternoon. I love these miniatures with their clean, simple designs and straightforward posing; they are frankly a much better fit for my meagre painting skills than many of the more detailed modern figures:
Spoiler: Heroes
Spoiler: Chaos Warriors

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
Very nicely done!
Do not discount your painting. Your work is clean, clear and very solid.
A few intermediate techniques would make a significant difference and would really show you how well you have already done (specifically a touch more shading and a little highlighting...and maybe a change in the glossiness of the finish). You're already well ahead of most people!
@E: Why no base work? You base your historicals...just curious!

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
Spoiler
Been working on some stuff for my Mousillon army. First actually finished model is a metal paladin on foot with hand weapon and shield. Got some other stuff getting near completion, but also some stuff going on that's taking me out of the head space for painting.Sanity is nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
Ah, but that is the point of brush-on coats...to apply oily sheen to barbarian bodies without it getting everywhere else!
Understandable - recommend just a nice wash/shade with a good warm color...that will give much of the depth without too much work.
Nice - I like the muted color finish that looks worn but not dirty (hope that makes sense and is reflective of intent/how it looks and not just a byproduct of the camera shot).

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
Thanks.
Muted colour is semi-intentional. Was originally going for a more bright yellow, but I couldn't get it to work on the caparisons of the mounted knights I started on, so I'm sticking with this more dull yellow because it's easier to work with, with just a slight highlight of brighter yellow. Armour is meant to look a bit worn, trying to get the impression of the paint being worn away on the edges to distinguish with the more dull grey-shaded black fabrics. Issue with black armour and black fabric being side by side.
Being muted, tarnished and grubby suits Mousillon anyway, and I intend to lean into the more dark corrupted aesthetic of Mousillon, rather than when it was still shiny and heroic.Sanity is nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Re: What Have You Been Painting? Miniatures in Gaming
@- Mordar- I traditionally only paint my bases some earth tone. My IG Vets I used too dark of a speedpaint, and it looks black instead of dark brown. However, I don't care enough to re-do it because it looks fine on the table.
My latest is a Chaos Guard Kill Team from a 3rd Party.....
If you want to know more about the maker, how I painted them, the load-out, etc. it is all on my blog. No need to go into it all here.
