Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
Still sounds like a better plan than what I've got. Merideath does have Greater Invisibility as a spell, but at higher levels invisibility just isn't a mechanic since too many things have See Invisibility or even True Sight. An incorporeal creature, by contrast, is technically on another plane entirely - they'd have to have someone on hand with the ability to pursue the ghosts there in order to actually destroy them. And on top of that, the ghosts can go through walls, and enemies will have a hard time dealing with them when they can break line of effect very easily. Up to and including going through floors or just floating off into the sky if they so please.
Other than that, Merideath's only possibly means of stealth is her Disguise Self spell, which she keeps up most of the time for vanity purposes, if there's any chance whatsoever of being seen by non-undead. ...And, come to think of it, Disguise Undead, too. The bluff route likely won't get us far, but it would be entertaining.

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
If we hit them hard when they come out we can adapt from there. If they go in the “good guys” will focus on them and we will be stuck outside.

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
The evil deathknight in this doesn’t care but the player that doesn’t want the others of the group to get hurt does.

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
Original image was translucent green but I thought he looked too solemn. New angrier pic is bluish gray, though it's kind of hard to see where his edges are.
How many undead can Merideath disguise? I do sort of like the bluffing route to open, the ghosts could always hide underground

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
Well, she always prepares at least one a day and uses that instead of Disguise Self since, re-reading the text, Disguise Undead lasts 24 hours and also causes the subject to detect as whatever creature type they're being made to look like. So it's just a matter of either preparing more at the start of the day, or more likely using a few Pearls of Power. However, it only works on corporeal undead, so it'll just be Merideath, Tyrion, and The Black Knight.
Fortunately, she also carries around perfume and other things to mask the smell of being undead.

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
Well, unmanifested ghosts are invisible, so Garg and Sir Anger could sneak in without disguise undead, unless they have detect undead. Which they probably do.

And detect evil.
Don’t forget we are built to hunt them but they are built to hunt us too.Last edited by Lioslaith; 2024-05-02 at 08:12 AM.

In that case, I say we go in guns blazing, hit them hard before they can hit us harder.

That was my thought, though I do like the idea of the underground ghosts.

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
The Wizard really shouldn't be saying this, but the direct approach is better than worrying too much. I've just about picked my spells for the day too, except for one question that needs answering - do we want to have Rary's Telepathic Bond up on us during our excursion?
EDIT: And I've also finally picked out my equipment. Just had to figure out the essentials. I am left with just over 23k gp, reserved for various wizardly expenditures (like however much my spells ended up costing, as well as any material components I forgot about).

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
Rarys telepathic bond
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: You plus one willing creature per three levels, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart
Duration: 10 min./level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No
You forge a telepathic bond among yourself and a number of willing creatures, each of which must have an Intelligence score of 3 or higher.
Each creature included in the link is linked to all the others.
The creatures can communicate telepathically through the bond regardless of language.
No special power or influence is established as a result of the bond.
Once the bond is formed, it works over any distance (although not from one plane to another).
If desired, you may leave yourself out of the telepathic bond forged.
This decision must be made at the time of casting

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
noted:
Iron Guard's Glare
While you are in this stance, any opponent that you threaten takes a —4 penalty on attack rolls against your allies. This penalty does not apply to attacks made against you. Enemies you threaten become aware of the consequences of the stance.

I'll start in Leaping Dragon Stance I suppose.

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
the temple is a very solid structure there is but 1 section that can be considered an upper floor and that is only the area directly over M9
it extends up 20 ft higher than the rest of the structure, it is solid stone, the windows are little more than arrow slits unless you are a small or smaller creature you will not be able to even squeeze through.
this does not account for going through walls ect.
the only known entrance is at M1Last edited by samduke; 2024-05-04 at 06:52 PM.

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
Sorry for the silence. Been meaning to figure out which of my spells have a duration of 10 min/level or even 1 min/level, because if we've got an hour to do this, than we're just blitzing this whole dungeon and anything that lasts longer than 15 minutes or so is a valid buff to cast at the start. 'Course, I have few buffs, and I think the only one I have on me that isn't a 1 round/level duration is Greater Mage Armor, which I'd have cast beforehand, of course. And Disguise Undead, but that's not really a buff per se.

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
as far as buff spells go, and this applies to everyone, just tell me what you cast on you/party at the 250ft point list the duration as well, those spells will be active prior to the alarm being raised in the temple

I guess I should also mention I'll turn on the Blurring effect on my armor

Re: The Hunt for the Holy Grail OOC
Noted on Blurring effect
When you activate this armor, your appearance becomes distorted and hazy, as if you were affected by a blur spell.
"Blur Spell"
This distortion grants the subject concealment (20% miss chance).
The blurring property functions three times per day, and the effect lasts for 5 rounds.
