My birthday is coming up this Saturday. I'll be 39,000,000 years old.
It's time to get my Magikarp on!

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
Cool.
I somehow got hit by a truck despite never leaving my house. The process destroyed my body utterly and cast my soul across the multiverse where I eventually landed in Earth 616 and was reincarnated as/essentially stole the body of the offshoot that the Carnage Symbiote left behind in the body of Detective Jon Shayde when it abandoned him as a host. As this offshoot was spawned after Carnage stole the multiversal traveling powers of The Spot, among other things, it was simple enough for me to open a portal to the Arctic and find the Orb's body, still where it was left in the ice after he was murdered by the Multiversal Masters of Evil, and harvest the Watcher's Eye from it in order to gain sufficient cosmic awareness back to Earth-1218(IE, his one.)
...Though not before finding and cannibalizing the two separate corpses left behind by the orignal Cletus Kassady in order to absorb his dark magic and extremis virus enhancements.
I was gone for maybe ten minutes of our relative time. Oddly, there's no sign of damage to my house from when the truck drove into it. Weird, right?
Took me another five minutes to figure out how to shapeshift to look like my original human body.
Anyway, later I'm gonna go on a rampage across the multiverse and attempt to become the Ultimate Life Form.Last edited by Rater202; 2024-04-29 at 03:05 PM.

No form of life is ultimate.
I don't mean to imply that "ultimate" is an unreachable state (though it may be) but rather that the ultimate creature wouldn't be alive, officially speaking.
I use braces (also known as "curly brackets") to indicate sarcasm. If there are none present, I probably believe what I am saying; should it turn out to be inaccurate trivia, please tell me rather than trying to play along with an apparent joke I don't know I'm making.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
Today I learned that "nonplussed" means bewildered and not, as I thought, indifferent or unbothered. Kinda like how "bemused" means confused and not amused. I wonder if there are other similar words.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
There's a few commonly confused words like that yeah. "Inflammable" just means..."flammable" for instance.
Nonplussed is a weird one where BECAUSE it is so commonly misunderstood it will often be used in the misunderstood sense in novels and the like as well, which is extra confusing.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
Well I'm not them, but I think their logic is, if your alive, you have to meet certain traits to qualify right? which comes with certain weaknesses of being alive. there if you upgrade enough, your beyond being alive, because your are too strong to fit the current definition of alive because your body wouldn't do the same things as living beings. like an undead or a robot. both are still people but they're not really alive in any sense we are, but they are technically better in some ways in that they don't require the same things to stay alive. "no need to eat/drink/breathe" and so on is often listed as a superpower those kinds of beings possess even if they have some other need they have to fulfill instead, and some versions of those things in fiction ignore that entirely. so if your biologically advanced enough to replicate such lack of needs, at what point are you no longer alive in the term as we currently mean it?

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
No offense, friend Lich, but I wouldn't exactly call you Ultimate, either.
Maybe a few million years from now when you've had however many Spirit-Vessel Will Refinements that is, but if I recall the specs of your specific type of undead immortality correctly the base template is a bit too slow to recover from damage, particularly that which is inflicted by certain energy types.
Can they live indefinitely without outside aid?
Can they adapt to external threats or environments on an appreciable timescale (learning doesn't count.)
Can they continue to grow more powerful passively indefinitely?
If you reduce them to their component atomic particles, will that kill them? If not, can they actually recover from that damage?I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Y'know, Rater may not be socially competent for not getting this is a joke and continuing to respond as if it isn't, but your not much better for continuing to not recognize he does this every time you make one and replying to him as if he doesn't.
Not saying I am of course, but I'm a little tired of seeing this dance happen over and over again.Last edited by Lord Raziere; 2024-04-29 at 07:57 PM.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
I didn't mean to imply that he was. My point was that life doesn't have any chance to become "ultimate" because evolution, by definition, has no final goal to reach. Those who return from the grave may or may not have an "ultimate" state in mind, and may or may not be capable of reaching it.

Yes, yes, yes, and n/a because the previous answer was yes.
I actually am better (than everyone, not just Rater) by virtue of being a silver dragon.

Just tried it. You cannot! The more you know.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
Yeah. I've never seen anyone use "inflammable" to mean "nonflamable," but I've definitely seen "nonplussed" used in place of "unbothered."
Novels are a good example cuz it's reasonable to assume that the author and their editor know what "nonplussed" means... But what if they elect to use the other meaning for philosophical or aesthetic reasons?
What about an older, cooler-looking silver dragon?

Well, like I often find myself saying in vtube adjacent spaces: I'm just a regular human person.
I also recently got my friend Fury's birthday gift to me- a bunch of art they drew and mailed to me along with a pretty rockin' sweater from a queer arcade bar they frequent. I will take pictures later.

Ah, a living positive feedback loop! Whatever could go wrong?
Meh, no need for that, even. All you need is a Silver Dragon that works as advertised. Foolishly trusting, Mr. Lee has revealed his big weakness to us long ago: temperatures below 30 °C are anathema to him. You mail him to Zod, and he's toast.
