Dark Heresy Game [DM needed!]

Hello all,

Often i started some campaigns here, often PbP not really working out. So i would love to start something with more longlivety and more progression.

Im looking for 1 DM and 2-3 other players.

To play.... Dark Heresy!

I have played a couple times, but still considered myself a relative newby in this system.

Any more people who would like to start something up?

I'm in the Netherlands (Europe) and often have evenings and weekends to play a few hours. I would prefer to play weekly or bi weekly

Preferably low level, basic mystery solving, lore heavy and RP focussed.

Which version of Dark Heresy are you thinking? I'm interested either way assuming the scheduling can work, but just figured it'd be a good idea to get more information and clarification for anyone else who's interest.

i mean i have run dark heresy 1e before, and frankly i prefer it. its low powered, good for tense sneeky-peeky moments, and lots of static on the vox.

I'm down for either or as a player, though I have more experience in DH1e if I'm remembering correctly.

If I were selected as a player, I'd likely build some sort of durable frontline character.

but seriously, who preps for a session!? games are meant to be played off the cuff, and let free to roam like wolves. if you prep, your pinning the wolf down like a goat, and thats not how i play

Okay seriously.. this might work. Im not against PbP, but i also prefer having some sort of way to connect a bit more Besides the forum posts. Maybe a Discord channel to chat in OOC? Something to keep things rolling and us interacting to keep the game alive?

I want to clarify, I don't think they were actually volunteering to DM. It was just me joking. However, if they are, that'd be dope.

As for discord vs forums, I personally would much rather keep everything on the forums, simply because most people are in a crap load of discord servers and it's common for a new one to get lost in the reeds. But, people who are in the forum are here for specifically this reason.

I don't disagree maybe making a group chat in discord where we can all chat, but I would make it a group dm instead of a server. Then we just use it to send "hea, you're up" type messages and that way it always populates to the top of their chats when a new update is made.

Hopefully we do end up finding a GM for the game. I'd like to have a pbp game I can come back to for a good long while.

Unless bramblefoot has volunteered to GM, I am willing to run a game of DH1.

Before going forward I would like to share what kind of style I prefer, just so we are all on the same page.

- Low-powered game, PCs might be a cut above the rabble but they would still be quite vulnerable; e.g. advanced weaponry, even when available, would have limited ammo and to be used sparingly (IIRC Eisenhorn, one of the most famous Inquisitors out there, had just a couple of magazines for his bolt pistol). Some options would be banned (Thy Name I Keep, Templar Calix, everything from Lathe Worlds). Enemies would be mostly human cultists and criminals, even thought some "exotic" stuff might appear in what would amount to a boss fight.

- Game would focus on investigation and intrigue, with the occasional fight. Combat would be resolved through the theatre of the mind.

- If your character dies, well, that happens; life is cheap in the Imperium. Not to say that I would be an adversarial GM, just that I would not make NPCs act foolishly just to save your character. Fate Points would be on the plate as a reward (usually as an end-of-chapter reward) so you would have at least one to burn most of the time.

I would run the game here on GitP, but I am fine with having a Discord server where to chat; be aware that I live in CET.

I would love a low powered game with mostly intrigued and being expendabel. Just my type of game.

Im perfectly fine with playing PbP and having some chit chat on Discord.

I hope the others would like this too.

CEST would not be an issue in PbP at all.

I'm also totally down for that idea! I would likely play a guardsman, so low-power works well for me. I still would like mostly everything on the forums, and only using discord for messaging people to make sure they're making posts. So, feel free to add me on Discord and we can make a group chat. I'm good with a low powered game. I might need to refresh myself on Dark Heresy a bit, but at the risk of this becoming "All Guardsmen Party 2: Heretical Boogaloo" I was thinking maybe of playing IG as well? A different specialization than what Nuptup might be considering. Otherwise, I could see also playing a tech-priest.

Anyway, if we'll be gathering on Discord to plot and plan, whoever's running that please DM the link.

I can put one together if people add me on Discord. Then if someone else wants to manage it, I can just transfer ownership. Either way works with me.

Also, I would almost guarantee that my IG build would likely differ greatly from yours. :D I have a pretty specific idea in mind that is almost always a surprise for people. :P

I would like to have a chat on Discord before posting the OOC and IC threads, mostly to give you a chance to share your expectations, what you would like to see in the game (and what you absolutely do not want to see), talk a bit about your characters and ask me questions (if there are any, of course).

I was under the impression that a Discord server already existed, if it does not I'll create one ASAP and send invites.
