Re: My Little Pony 2F: Ponibooru, We Hardly Knew Ye...
This calls for a distraction.
"Hey, thubby, look over here! I finally finished the second chapter of my fanfic."
*tosses chapter at thubby*
Who do I have to maim and/or throw money at to aquire one of these?
Really, Silent Night? You can't tell the difference between my wife and her younger sister? The younger sister that you've regularly teamed up with against me? I'm starting to think all of those OFC blasts to the head are starting to affect you.
Boffiekins, we need to save her from that monster!
*sigh* Fine. You do realize, Silent, that I can send other things through those portals besides pudding, don't you?

Sompony really need to share that story for those of us that weren't here last summer.
In general I think they are better for title. Then again I was taught in school to never use 1234567890 in written form unless you are actually doing math.

No way, it's this thread's Noodle Incident.
Don't forget big numbers. If you tell someone in a business that their account has two million, three hundred seventy-four thousand, five hundred and twenty three dollars and sixteen cents in it, they'll get really annoyed.

But while still within prose I was taught to prefer stating a number unless there's a good reason not too. And titles are closer to prose and more formal (or "titular") on top of that. Quite aside from this board there's plenty of precedent for Roman numerals in this context. Ours being a little higher doesn't really change this to me. .

Re: My Little Pony 2F: Ponibooru, We Hardly Knew Ye...
*boring personal rant*
SpoilerThose days...? More like last 4 weeks
Funny story is, being made head IT specialist of university's cathedral seemed like a good idea... Until I found out it's new unit and as such 'head' means 'only' IT specialist. And 'only' because the pay was rather low. Still, figured out I could use entry in CV, and work, though long and boring, was rather easy, because there wasn't a lot to be broken in new infrastructure and I managed whole network rather well.
Well, until I found out that being sick doesn't allow you any special privileges in university charter for now - workers only start earning sick days on sixth month of work. I'm currently on fifth. Alone means no work division, everyone immediately notices when something doesn't work as it should and there is clear person to blame. Guess who? So, I kept going.
I considered terminating the job, but with one month of probation left, I'd have wasted 5 months trying to get recommendation, and to make story even funnier, terminating also means quitting common medical insurance program. And since I'm now looking at possible medical bill that would easily eat my last 3 months of pay had I been forced to cover it out of my own pocket...
Eh, long story is, recently I have barely had energy to follow GitP a bit, while not having energy to debate anything long, idle and trade in TF2 on new upgrade, not even seriously playing, and lying in bed. No, not sleeping, doing that is kinda hard when you manage to barely sleep half the time you spend in it due to... circumstances. I even had to cut offering local bronies help with learning graphic programs, something I agreed to a long time ago, and I hate shirking everything I see as my responsibility

Re: My Little Pony 2F: Ponibooru, We Hardly Knew Ye...
Upon further consideration, I think I tend to write out numbers to two significant digits. So two hundred, two-fourty, but 247 (or even 240 if that's an exact number).

So what is that:
8 - I say ol' chap, how about those Equestrians?
1 - My Little Pony (#): Posting at the Speed of Pony
And then a mashup between either roman or arabic numerals?

To clarify, Either Roman Numerals Or Arabic Numerals.
Not a mashup of the two, or any wish-corruption-lawyer interpretations of the above.
Also,
Someone who isn't me should take a shot at doing one of these at some point. (I draw the line, if you'll pardon the pun, at being over half of the Tumblr).

Re: My Little Pony 2F: Ponibooru, We Hardly Knew Ye...
Outside of Latin its pretty rare, but I'm talking about in sentences where I was taught to use words. You write "the two cats" not "the 2 cats" for example.
Its really a sidebar for different contexts. But arabic numerals in my experience were reserved only for fairly specific contexts. Titles though were not among them.Last edited by Soras Teva Gee; 2012-07-03 at 05:45 PM.

Re: My Little Pony 2F: Ponibooru, We Hardly Knew Ye...
I was roaming around, and spent most of day 2 watching the panels. Had my "Free as a butterfly" shirt on, made by fellow MMO-Championers, and somewhat famous pony artist Valcron. I wrote Pendulous on my badge, just in case, so it was probably just some really bad luck.
On de Lancie, I still think it's odd. He's giving so much praise to people he admits he doesn't know. I'm all for the documentary, but he just felt very presumptuous.
Speaking of, here's his panel for those who haven't seen.
I don't know if I mentioned, but the audio quality on that video is what it sounded like the whole time there. It was terrible. I've been to a concert before where I couldn't even hear the singer because of the audio (and was confirmed when I saw a video on Youtube of it). Really bad. Would have been much better if these awesome panels would have been easier to hear.
