Cool cool, no worries. Hooray, free cow.Quote:
Sorry, yes - problem I keep having with seeing a post when it goes up and then forgetting it when I have time to write the reply . Have put a quick mention in the new IC post + you can assume Tattie's got the cow under control.
If Elsa really wants to make a statement, she should make the fire on the Effigy Inexhaustible. Become their new god!
The effigy burning for an entire year (Magic 4) would be cool indeed, but alas, this spell is only good for up to the size of a campfire.
At some point, we need to ask the two rescuees their names and story, but that can probably wait until we stop to catch some sleep.
Just to anticipate the OOC question, if Bardhyl can define what kind of (reasonably likely to be findable) features he's looking for in a hiding place, he can roll Outdoor Survival to find somewhere nearby that fits the bill. Difficulty contingent on how perfect a spot you're asking for and how far you're willing to walk in the dark.
Since it is dark and we don't know the terrain, we should probably just move as far as possible from the hollow in a straight line. I assume we can use the stars to keep moving approximately in our chosen direction.
As for a hiding place - a cave of some sort would be best, followed by a copse or enough bushes to offer cover, followed by a gully or even just a deepish fold in the land. Anything that will let us keep out of direct line of sight from the hollow/ravine. Obviously we'd stop at the first acceptable candidate, i.e. not searching for a proper cave if there's a gully that offer good cover close by.

I know we closed this off when we first attacked but a part of me is disappointed Wadim wasn't working with the grots, I liked the idea of being on team goblin for a while.
They're goblins. Something like killing their leader and a bunch of the rest of them isn't going to stop them from being bossed around. If anything, it'll help.
Just go up to them and say "I'm da boss now. I killed da last boss and I'll gut ya like him if you don't do what I tell ya"
Who is taking the next watch after Ludo? Unless it's expected to be a long time before they come on, he'll wait for them for a second opinion.
Is Ludo waking us up to pass on the info about the goblins, or is he just passing this on to Elsa?
Bardhyl would be willing to take the watch after Elsa if that becomes relevant.
Just passing it on to Elsa.
Spoiler: @LCPI've been meaning to ask - that business with Jarla being out of sorts when the party was leaving Savonne seemed to come to nothing, but RossN's latest IC post got me thinking about it again.
I don't really see Bardhyl trying to get Jarla to talk about it since he doesn't know her very well and she blew him off the last time, but I have been considering maybe checking her out with his Magical Sense in case she's under some magic/daemonic influence or something.
Mostly, though, I'm just curious OOC whether the original exchange was something you instigated as GM or whether that was something that came from RossN?
Spoiler: LCPThat's fair - the plot thickens!
I'm not particular one way or another. The one big consideration I see is that if the goblins are thinking of striking a third time, this is the best place for us to be. Best position for us to fight them and best chances of the locals surviving it with us around.
Right. If you really need an answer, then I say we might as well stay the night, since that's what Meg invited us to do. (And I presume our previous night wasn't that restful.)
If I decided these things for myself I'd just be writing a novel, really.
More seriously, thinking back to the planning of the attack on the gobbos, it does feel like the party has a little bit of decision paralysis lately. I don't know what I can do to help there other than just encourage everyone to take the lead + suggest complete plans rather than waiting for somebody else - but if there is anything that anyone thinks would be helpful then let me know.
Sorry I have been both ill and busy recently. I suggest we stick around overnight just in case of another goblin attack, and for the sakes of a proper rest.
Whereabouts on the map are we right now? Has Wadim indicated how he plans to get back to the Raven Hills?
Sorry from me too. Every time I've posted IC I've forgotten to respond to the question here. I'm all for holing up with the farmers for the evening. Now that Bardhyl has found Wadim, there's no huge hurry to keep moving and if the goblins actually do want to come out for a fight, this is as good a place as any to deal with them.
Re where Wadim is going from here, Bardhyl definitely wants him to come back to his hideout to discuss personal matters and future plans rather than just have him wandering off on his own.
I don't think another goblin attack is that likely, considering they already took all the goats, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
"Being prepared" is probably standard operating procedure in these parts. :smallamused:
If the plan is to go back to the hideout (which we should definitely do, all my stuff is there), then where on the map is Bardhyl's hideout as well?
I think rax has a bit of map with that marked on Bardhyl's character sheet.
Re: further convos with Wadim, I don't want to rush that - there's definitely lots to talk about with him. What I'd suggest, though, is that rather than tackle it in sequence with 1 character talking to him about 1 question at a time, we parallelise it as much as possible. Each character that wants to talk to him can come up with a list of questions, and we'll resolve those simultaneously.
The only logistical details I'll need to make that work are knowing who's present at which conversation - i.e. please make it clear with your questions whether they're being asked in the round where everyone else can hear the answers and chip in, or whether you're drawing him aside for a private conversation (which I'd ask other players to please respect - at the very least assume that if you want to go and join someone else's conversation that they can see you coming). It's just about getting dark IC, so you can assume he's got time for a number of conversations before you need to sleep again.
I do indeed. X marks the spot!

Edit: And since I'm totally knackered tonight, an IC post will have to wait till tomorrow.
I admit the current IC conversation is a bit frustrating because Adelbert would have opinions and theories galore about the nature of the Jackal and the vampire but Jarla doesn't have Academic Knowledge Theology - or that personal experience. :smallamused:
I'm rereading Ludo's Conversation With Klammenberg and think this specific parallel is interesting - both Klammenberg and Wadim say the reaches are "cursed".
Quote:
"The Reaches are cursed, Herr Stubbs. They've been cursed ever since they imprisoned the Hound of Nagash, and stole what was rightfully his. That's why no dynasty can survive here, that's why every century the green lands retreat. It's why there's more wyrdstone starfall here than anywhere else in the Border Princes. They couldn't destroy him, so they buried him and tried to forget him. And even then, half of them have ended up worshipping his memory, in one form or another." He shook his head. "There's no putting him back in the box now. He's out."
