Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
It was this thread: https://forums.giantitp.com/showthre...e-recruiting-2
Unfortunately, the forums ate it.
I think we should be able to handle this without additional assistance, but if we are to recruit more people, the moment seems quite reasonably good (except for forum timeouts).
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Dang it.
Okay, what are we up to, Point Totals-wise? When new players want to create new characters, how many will they need to be on par with the other players?
You fellas will also want to post in the new recruitment thread (once/if it gets made) to welcome in new players and fill them in on the current events, too.
What kind of PC type should we tell prospective players to make when joining?
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Sean has 199 points, Richard should have 201 and for new players 200 seems like a nice round number. We definitely want someone who can fight and is willing to do so, because we are picking them going to a combat and that is a large part of the game anyway. We also want people who want and can do other stuff, but I am not quite certain what that stuff would realistically be. We have NPCs (Simone, Tariq, Doc) to cover the most essential stuff, but maybe we can use a electronics/radio/computer/gadgeteer guy or an artillery guy (though the later might be a bit non-trivial to explain) or a second scout. I don't see much of use of some other templates. Stepping outside of templates, maybe some expert guy who's much into stuff like area knowledge, current affairs, contacts, etc. We definitely can use that one. Or a some other expert (The Gutter seems of interest, if appropriate, as are the mutants if the new guy is to be one, or Old World history, especially of practical variety). Other things might or might not quite work, I'll opine when they are named. Just let's make sure the guy's good with a type of gun or some such.
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Alright, started a new thread, get over there and feel out any wanna-be players.

I probably missed something.
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Ground Control to Volthawk, what's your status?
I'd like you to stay on top of posting, to avoid delays in the action.
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
His profile does not show when the last visit was, but we do know the following:
1. The last post was 2024-04-12.
2. I've sent a PM on 2024-04-19.
I guess he haven't been online since sometime between 12th and 19th, so we just wait for a week and then see how it goes?
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
It's been almost a week, depending on timezones.
I'm giving Volthawk one more day, then we're glossing over his PC's actions. He can be a NPC while Sean's stuff is given the spotlight.
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
I hope Volthawk will be fine. I will detail the interactions a few bits at a time and then we'll have to have Richard doing rearguard of the op, no problems with that.
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Okay, we’re moving on. Sorry for the delay.
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Reminder, rifle bullets are worth $10 of barter, so it’s $5 per person and $10 per car.

Nope, it was about half a day worth of activities: Richard spent 5 hours interrogating a guy and Tariq spent 4+ hours finishing RPG-7 and crafting the rockets. The intent was to arrive in the evening, when it would be about to get dark soon enough.

Okay, then we got late enough to start getting dark. Remember, Vermont nights get pitch black super fast.
Edited the post.
Be prepared to roll skills when you approach the motel. It's going down.

Errm... the original plan before that was to use second floor, but my last post was supposed to mean instead using the building as cover while still being on the ground level and checking how much can be seen. It never was to use the roof for anything as Sean thought that would be too open. The target 75 yards away and just 1 story high should be seen at about the same angle as from a two-story building, so mostly the question of obstructions on the ground. I'll post when we have it clarified which way it is and, if ground level, whether Sean can see all things described, including the observer.

I made a mistake. Said roof when I should said second floor.
There are no obstructions on the ground.

Then I guess per #1371 Sean could (and would) use the building as cover just fine, staying on the ground level. Technically, this does not necessarily prevent the stuff from falling on his left leg somehow, if he have had critical failure of leaning on the building or such, but a roll of 17 on a skill of 16 is not a critical failure, it is an ordinary failure. So...
1. Has Sean entered the building?
2. Has he a critical failure (or maybe has the ordinary failure lovered the structural modifier)? If not, Sean would have made the perception roll and there would not be anything falling on him.
3. If he had stuff falling on him, that's 2 damage to the leg and 1 fatigue trying to dodge and some difficult hearing check for the observer to make.
Anyway, none of the above is enough to warrant change of plans, so here is the list of things Sean considers:
1. What is the distance from the buiding of ours to the motel's outer perimeter? What is the depth of all of the preimeters? What is the distance from the inner perimeter to the motel? Here Sean estimates how close it would be possible to approach the buildings without steping in contact with any barbed wire or such.
2. Any signs of mines outside of outer perimeter? I guess the mines themselves should not be visible, but if the place is frequented by the animals, maybe there is a ligher wire fence before main barbed wire to keep the animals out or maybe they have shot some animals as not to leave them on the minefield or maybe some animal went onto the minefield and there was an explosion the results of which have not been cleaned up? Or is the asphalt still mostly intact and visibly clear?
3. Other than that, it's mostly 75 yards of open ground / parking lot?
4. Looking from our side, is the observer on the right building or on the left building? Which building is larger? Does Sean see most of two buildings from his position or is one more or less behind the other? Does Sean see the ladder that the observer would take to get up there? Does Sean see the door closest to that ladder?
5. How is the whole setup illuminated?
6. What would be the size modifier to put a rocket inside the building, preferably near the center? I guess if a window would be boarded by visibly thin plywood, that could count nearly as "a hex" at +4, but if it's mostly covered by sandbags, it might be much less, including negative.
Nothing of the above would prevent Sean from shooting at the observer, so will roll and post to that effect IC some time soon.
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
I’m going to rule that Sean knocked on a wall a bit as he walked around, a piece of ceiling fell on him, it did a small amount of crushing damage (not enough to get through your armour, depending on hit location).
Then Sean continued on, getting into position, and shooting.
Sounds good?
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Re: Worse Than The Disease OOC 2
Alright, Sean does not spy any dramatic activity coming from inside the motel within 3 seconds.
He does not see the (probably crippled) sniper, either.
