Julian? Intelligence+Investigation?
I would like to see if Sense Fatebond activates around a can of Slam!
Then I'd like to make an Intelligence+Occult roll to investigate the mystical properties of the drink
Then see if Sense Fatebond activates upon a hapless volunteer drinking Slam!
Then I would like to activate Unlidded Eye to 'see' any magic on the drink or the person drinking it.
Stopping if any step yields a positive result
Julian learns nothing about the satyrs that you hadn't learned previously.
Specifically I am suspecting Fornot is a giant or Norse entity and is using giant blood in Slam! to slightly increase mortal’s stamina while creating a magical bond of Loyalty to them.
Will post soon to test hopefully
Can I roll Int+Occult to know about the effects of Jotunblut?
If yes:
Int (2) + Occult (3) +1 Success Epic Int.
[roll0]
Without a roll, you know that Aesir gods and scions do something that involves feeding their blood to mortals, in the same way you know that Aztec gods and scions derive power from human sacrifice in some way and that Tuatha de Dannan gods and scions are heavily involved with geasa, but that roll won't let you connect it to Gunnar Forsen/Forson. Liliana probably can.
The hotel should be able to get you a can of Slam! easily enough.
Also, not to distract from the ongoing discussion (by all means continue!), but Liliana, Brand, and Mateusz, please roll straight Intelligence.
[roll0]+ 2 auto succeses
Int:
[roll0] + 2 Epic Int
Intelligenge Occult [roll0] +2 Epic Successes
My INT Roll:
[roll0] + 2 Automatic EPIC INTELLIGENCE successes
Sorry, I am kinda late to the party, I forgot to check the forum for a few days... :-P
If you're heading to the tenement the next day, then...please describe what you're doing when you get to that part, of course (whether you're observing the tenement or approaching it, for example), and everyone who is going to be close enough to see and potentially be seen, please roll both: one of Perception+Investigation or Perception+Awareness, and Dexterity+Stealth.
Can you describe the area a bit more? From your earlier descriptions it wasn't entirely clear to me what scale the tenements are at. Is it a single building, several, an entire city block...?
Each tenement in that part of town makes up one block. It's in the worst area of town by a distance.
Can I try to blend in socially rather than physically, to roll Presence instead of Stealth? Maybe charming and mingling with a group of people already walking through the area?
Perception + Awareness:
[roll0]
Someday, someday I'll purchase a dot in Epic Perception, but for now it's low on my priority list.
There are, unfortunately for that plan, very few people in the area, especially on foot.
Gotcha.
Dexterity + Stealth
[roll0] + 1 Epic Dex
stealth: [roll0]
investigation+ perception/awareness (same dice total): [roll1] +1 from epic perception
What time of day are we doing this? Whether it's day or night matters a lot for my IC description.
Should the situation arise: Julian is an exceptionally good liar and I will gladly spend the Legend for God`s Honest to preserve the cover identity.
-------------------------------------
Julain would show up by day and leave the neighborhood before nightfall.
Maybe he will come back in a different disguise but the survey employee is not getting paid extra to be mugged.
For Investigation:
Per (2) + 1 Epic Success + Investigation (1)
[roll0]
Using a disguise and a clipboard to take notes constitutes a 1 die Stunt? If yes: [roll1]
-------------------------------
For Stealth:
Dex (5) + Stealth (1) + 1 Epic Success + 1 Success though Willpower (constantly staying alert and willing to retreat to preserve his cover.)
[roll2]
Using a disguise to blend in and sneakers to run away constitutes a 1 die Stunt? If yes: [roll3]
Perception + Awareness:
[roll0]
Dextirity + Stealth:
[roll1] + 1 automatic success (Epic Dexterity)
EDIT:
Do you think I should use Legend on either of these rolls? Maybe both?
Normally I won't answer questions like that, but here I'm going to say: no. Remember, you can only spend Legend for automatic successes a number of times per story equal to your Legend rating. You are currently at about midpoint in the first chapter, nowhere near the end of the story. Considering everyone else who has yet rolled has four successes for Stealth and you're apparently all going in a group rather than the scouting Liliana had talked about, getting three successes versus getting six is absolutely not worth using one of the times you can spend Legend for extra successes on.
On an unrelated note, just to be sure no one has incorrect assumptions, my calling for a roll does not always mean what is being rolled for is important. Or even is anything. If (to pick an example at random) I mention a bar on the corner which has no significance in the story at all, and you declare you want to examine it for signs of titanspawn, I'm not going to just say "there are none"--I'm going to say "Roll Perception+Awareness." And then, unless you botched, tell you you don't see any.
So for arriving, that just leaves Max.
Ah, okay, thank you for explaining ;-) And sorry if I am being problematic :-(
Perception+Investigation [roll0] +1 Epic Success
Dexterity+Stealth [roll1] +1 Epic Success
How many stories is this building?
EDIT: And how close is it to its neighbors? Is somebody fleeing from the roof/an upper window to the next building something we should reasonably worry about?
From the pattern of boarded-up windows, it looks like three stories. Jumping to another building would mean crossing a street: possible, but only with supernatural powers. However, you do suspect anyone with superhuman strength could break through any of the outer walls in either direction.
Join Battle rolls (which I will generally roll for everyone so as not to bog down the game):
Max: [roll0]+1 6 Begins on tick 1
Liliana: [roll1]+2 4 Begins on tick 3
Julian: [roll2]+1 7 Begins immediately on tick 0
Mateusz: [roll3] 4 Begins on tick 3
Brand: [roll4] 3 Begins on tick 4
The woman: [roll5] Botch Begins on tick 6
Julian would spend the legend and use the knack Charmer out of the Hero book:
„ With the sheer, raw charm this Knack represents, the Scion can smother an upwelling of panic, suspicion or utter hatred directed at her for one scene. The player need only spend a point of Legend. “
So, I will have a way to get more information out of her, but it would entail an escalation of the situation. I think it would be better to let her go, but wanted to check with everyone else.
