Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
Wait, does that mean this fellow is a third kind of being (rather than a shadow or a like-Pellan-but-not-Pellan)? (Anyhow: Vaid's fire visible through the mist in the background is a nice touch!)

I think they're like Pellan but have additional powers.

Such as presumed loss (partial or complete) of continuity between present and past personality/self?

Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
Ah, one of Pellan’s old party. Fetch, Domir, Lirin. Who he led to their doom.
Remember, if you leave your dead buddies behind always make sure they actually are dead.:smallamused:

Wait, when’d their names come up again?

Page 106. When Pellan told Cat how he got his skin condition.
Looked them up myself because I was pretty sure they came up.

I mean, under the circumstances I suspect "dead" may have been a fuzzier concept than normal...

I mean, if nothing else this guy would have a much harder time coming after Pellan if he didn't have a leg to stand on.
Or were the type to forget his head.
There's always ways to render them armless in case they do come after you.
Worst case they have to pull themselves together first, that still buys you time.

Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
Update!
Page 266 - It Didn't Take.
-
Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
I mean, to be fair Pellan probably had no idea of knowing.
-
Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
Huh. I just noticed the guy has gray speech bubbles.
So probably not the same deal as Pellan. Or at least leaning more towards the undead side of things than our skele-bro.
Edit: Also, that makes the fourth differently looking speech bubble in this encounter. Those shades sure are a colourful bunch.
Pellan's buddy is gray, the knight in icy armor blueish, the hooded shade classic undead white on black and the mohawk skeleton (not speaking common) some kind of dark blue.
Might be important?

Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
I really love the... cinematography? of this scene. The way their poses mirror each other in panel 4, the snowflakes drifting by bringing some light to the abnormally shadowed silhouette of the revenant. We've been building up to this encounter for a long while and my expectations are certainly being met.

This really needs to be on a platform bigger than just here.

Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
The consistency by which this comic updates is really impressive, even with the art upgrade. I've been enjoying it.

For sure. It's quite good. But I assume Shoreward has reasons for keeping their comic the forum's little secret.

Update!
Page 267 - Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice.

Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
I'm glad that Bortha has more or less gotten over the "lost all meaning of life" thing.
-
Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
Running for your life will do that.

Depression is (partially) hormone driven. Adrenaline can shout louder than most hormones.

Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
I mean true, but he did basically give up on life until someone told him to find the lady himself.

Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
Is this the start of a romantic relationship?
-
Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
I can see why you'd joke (?) about that, but given how Bortha's still all about some chick he's only ever seen once and Vaid is… Well, just as nauseatingly decent a person constantly and to everyone (I mean, he basically apologized to those shades before starting to kill them left and right!), I'll go with an "I don't think so, no" for now.

I wasn't joking, actually—I genuinely think Shoreward is gonna start romancing these two. Alternatively, they're planning to show a one-sided love interest situation. Bortha can have more than one romantic interest, and Vaid's decentness isn't a relationship deterrent.
Mainly cuz of the last two panels, so it's possible that future comics will show that it's not meant to be. Or I'm just super misreading the most recent comic.

Well, of course it isn't a deterrent! What I meant was "Vaid's being Vaid around Bortha is indicative of little beyond Vaid still being Vaid".

Like I said, I see what you based the assumption on, and it is almost guaranteed Bortha is going to make a HUGE deal out of it. I'm just not convinced it's going to be that kind of huge deal.

Oh, I understand now. That makes sense. Yeah, I don't think Vaid is expressing any romantic interest in Bortha here. But it might eventually blossom into romance.

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you mean here.

Sure it can! No contention there.

I mean it's Bortha. Someone saved his life! He'll at the very least pledge his life to the eternal quest of repaying that Massive Debt or something.

Oh, I see. That makes sense. You're saying Bortha will make a big fuss about this but Vaid may take it more lightly. And it'll end up no big deal in the overall narrative.
That feels pretty convincing. I'm not quite ready to give up on my faraway dream of a gay redemption arc for Bortha. But your take is at least as plausible as mine, and probably more likely.
-
Re: Cursed of Course II: The Second Thread
I'm more inteigued by the skeleton. Do you think that used to be one of the shades? Or did they kill one of the redshirts guards by striping off their flesh?

I'm going to say "unlikely". The gear worn is not consistent with that of Marigo personnel; it has an arrow in the shoulder; and "through the dark tunnel of doom" is such an eminently weird direction to run away to that even Bortha probably only took it because he wanted to rejoin the rest of the crew.
