I get yeah, that if a more promenient robot had died that would've probably had much more of an impact, though, in addition to the mechanical table setting.
Yep; I agree that the whole point was to have it be an "everyrobot" that died, somebody we can vaguely empathize with but who represents the New People in general rather than being a character in their own right. If, say, Robot had died, the interesting ideas in this chapter ("Kat is essentially a creator deity now", "Annie's psychopomp promise is breathing down her neck", "these New People are, indeed, true etheric souls") would have all been overshadowed by the sadness of losing a beloved major character.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
There’s also an important implication that nobody here has commented on.
If bald dude was the first robot to die…what happened to Lana?
I’m not going to say “called it” yet, because we haven’t had confirmation…but I can definitely hear a faint ringing sound in the distance.

The main characters themselves have remarked about that.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
I'd bet this is what Zimmy would have been if she weren't born with an etheric energy generator inside her.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
;She certainely look lie a cleaner less alway tired and possessed Zimmy, somewhat and we know Zimma can take other identities and appearances ain her mind trips (as seen when Zimmy though she was Anne way back when: https://www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=727 And the transition was such eve we as the audience couldn't really tell.)
But it seems a bit too obvious and also I'm unsure why Anne would ask "who are you" rather than "Zimmy is that you " which seems to indicate it may be someone else (or at least that she susects someone else).
Also she looks like Zmmy but also has a bit of Jerrek in the way her face and expression looks too ? (at least that feels like this to me ? could just be a new people thing tho...) Seeing as this mess was made by Coyote spearating itself from Loup and attacking Zimmy then the two having a fight near Zimmy thus creating what may be possbly a big three way aetheric interference... could it be that a part of Zimmy fused with a part of Loup ? At least even if so temporarily and that's the eprson where seeing here ?
... Or maybe I'm widly speculating out of my arse.

That title page...
Have we heard anything from the creator on the comic's end? Could this truly be it? Would he be the kind of creator to just DROP it on the audience like this?

Huh? This looks quite different from the flashbacks to the founders we've seen. I wonder where and when this scene is.

Judging by their clothes, I'd say mid-to-late 19th century.

It could mean this is the last chapter, but I am pretty the chapter is just named after the character that will be the chapter's focus. Also, I think that Omega is called that because she is the last "descendant" of this "witch".

I was kind of assuming this is Omega, and that she's been a core part of the court since it's earliest inception.

The word Omega is often used to denote the end or the last in a set, due to being the last letter of the Greek alphabet. Hence why another poster thought that the name for the chapter was a sign this is the last chapter (I personally don't think it is).
It would be odd for the first person in the set to be named Omega. Especially since, while we also have a Gamma and a Zeta (also Greek letters) we have yet to meet an Alpha (which is the first letter). I suspect this person is Alpha (even if it is only a code name the Court gives her after the fact).

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
Wonder who this flashback woman is. She's got Zimmy's eyes, so I thik that rules out her being Omega, because Omega has gray eyes.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
Remember that time when Annie said she thought Zimmy and Gamma were an item and Jack said "they're way more than that, you have no idea"...what if they're actually two halves of one person that's been split, and then Kat's "killing" of Zimmy is actually putting the original back together?
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
So that is Omega. Still seems like a weird name if she is the first.

I vaguely remember a quote, could just be pompous rubbish:
Quote:
I am the Alpha and the Omega.

Maybe the Court is working backward from Omega and trying to develop an Alpha...so someone whose name would start with A...
Do you think Omega was the one at the beach where the Star Ocean was revealed?

Given her apparent age (and the last page of the previous chapter), I doubt she's been embodied and ambulatory in some time. This is probably why she was excited to look around following the Loupacalypse.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
Some serious Arrival vibes here.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
So, whatever the Court has been doing to her, she's been going along with it willingly. Heck, she may have tried giving them ideas herself for how to use her power.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Thrown for a Loup
The Court was probably irritated Zimmy wasn't willing to go along in the same way.
