Ok, I'm writing an update now, but after that I'm off to Adepticon and will likely not be looking in (and away from my books in any case) until I'm back, somewhere around monday or tuesday.

Ooh, I've heard of that. There's supposed to be Warhammer announcements from there tomorrow. Have a good weekend.
Sounds like a lot of fun; safe travels!
Concerning the game, when Echo asks about any other creatures that the hunters have spotted, I'm kinda hoping for one in particular that you've already mentioned, way back.
I've had this in the back of my mind for several chapters now. This cute little thing would make a fine addition to Echo's crew of familiars, if we can catch one.
Forums not working much for me (and can't change text color or do other effects).
Away till after Easter (Forums have been dire again for me aswell)
I'm back! Adepticon was incredible, had a great time. I entered Golden Demon. Didn't win, but I got through first round of cuts and picked up a notable entry card.
Image spoilered for size.
Lot of detail going on there. I like the bionics.
Macharius on the bridge! (some time in the future...)
Very snazzy!
That's an awesome model! Congrats!
I was going to post today, but the forums are uncooperative. Again. I'm unable to access any of the size/color/other nifty features, and everything is very slow, so. *shrug*
In the meantime, would any Forbidden Lore rolls be appropriate? Ghosts seem vaguely Warp-y and/or Daemonology-y.
Yeah, forums have been weird. You can certainly try rolling any lore skills you think might be relevant.
I think this is less relevent then Echo's skillset but if it helps

Finally got the forums to comply with a post! Have been trying for days lol
Yeah, I think I get the good end of it because of my odd hours. The server seems far more stable at night.
Anyways, some lore results:
Echo knows that, while spectral daemons certainly exist, they're usually accompanied by other manifestations, and outside of widespread cults and a full blown incursion, typically do not remain in realspace for very long. This is unusual, but likely not daemonic. None of the trees have started sprouting tentacles or anything.
Anika knows that alien creatures come in a wide variety of strange. Ghost boars could be a psychic defense mechanism, or hallucinations, amongst any number of other things. The superstitious colonists (and indeed, Imperial citizens in general) don't have the knowledge required to say these are anything for certain.
Macharius knows the same things as Anika, but hasn't heard of anything like this exactly cropping up in the Expanse before. It's probably something new. Some sort of unusual Xenos beast would not be impossible.
A thought triggered by Macharius' reply- Macharius will certainly make sure that everyone on the colony knows the official version of their heroic exploits. Broadcasting any recordings of his speeches about it to the ship crews is a start, but there will definitely be a live proclamation at whatever the largest temple in the colony is, together with time off to attend. Everyone should know the awesome power of the God-Emperor and the rewards of faith! It may also help them feel more secure, in that it shows Macharius (and the dynasty) is either a) favored by the Emperor or b) powerful enough to fight warp-engines and daemons and win.
I like that. Kennoch would attend, and provide the evidence from his Memorance Implant.
And in older lore, showing it to anyone would be reason enough for them to be disappeared, just to be on the safe side. :smalleek:
Add it to the list of reasons that the Inquisition is probably looking for us this very moment, to discuss
Personally, I hope that telling more people a sanitized version--and emphasizing that the Thousand Sons love us--might make it harder to ambush us in the dark of space without anybody asking questions. Making Jonell and the colonists complicit in our conspiracy could be a tiny insurance policy. :smalltongue: And if not, then at least we'll have good company to help us escape from whatever secret prison they toss us in.
Jokes aside, if we are worried about pseudo-legal trouble with people even scarier than ourselves, I'll again toss out my suggestion that we contact Mathius and Kohl to spin our story in the best light to some old friends. It's a safe bet that we'll be confronted about this mess eventually, so perhaps we should arrange for it on our terms. We could send an Astropathic message, go loot that pirate ship (after the ghost-pigs), and see about meeting with them next chapter, perhaps?
I wouldn't say not to do it. Rogue Trader privilege helps of course.
I always assumed that there must be some representation of Daemons in churches or whatever. Maybe Macharius should comission a stained glass window or something like that.
Not against contacting Mathius and Kohl about that. I don't trust them either but we could take the view that someone's likely to find out at some point.
Daemons in the Imperium are kept largely hidden from the populace, but it's hard to do that when the place you live regularly spends time on the daemons' front lawn. Voidfarers would know daemons actually exist, even if they wouldn't understand them much beyond 'chaos bad, gellar field good.'
More puritan Inquisitors are still gonna frown at you.
Yeah I think they're super inconsistent on what a citizen of the imperium knows from story to story. Used to be that the Inquisition slaughtered everyone who knew about Daemons, but then you have places like Cadia and everyone who's traveled the Warp. I vaguely remember a story where someone is reminiscing about being told as a child that the Emperor created the 9 primarchs to fight the 9 demon lords?
As with everything else in the setting, probably depends place to place and time to time. I'd think there would be some cathedrals with stained glass of saints/heroes conquering daemons. Probably not lore-accurate specific daemons, but like a vague demonic figure. So they wouldn't know what a Keeper of Secrets is, but the idea that the Emperor empowers people to cast out daemons seems on-brand for the Ecclesiarcy.
I'd enjoy us funding a nice church, the first on this planet, with stained windows referencing our adventure. That sounds pretty cool to me.
By the way, did Jonell and any of his people come with us on this hunt? Just curious.
Jonell's doing other stuff, he's managing a lot of the colony admin things. Gallivanting, swashbuckling, and stealing everything not already owned by the Imperium is YOUR job.
Tech use to calibrate (if anything else is needed will roll for that as needed)

Yay, forums work! Macharius isn't one for subtlety. Do you want to use the re-roll roll for RF or have me roll another? Either way, he stabs the boar pretty well.
It's fine, I'll just toss the rolls in here: [roll0][roll1][roll2]
lmao, about the same then. In any case, it is a remarkably sturdy little beastie. You do not kill it. I'm not going to worry too much about initiative though, you got a surprise round, and there's only one of them.
For now.
It's not exactly a smart beasty, though, so you can take another swing as it's trying to run away.
