I had a session like that once...was supposed to be an epic showdown. Instead, the party talked the BBEG into realizing that he had utterly betrayed his own principles and by his own standards needed to be destroyed. He couldn't take the dissonance, having considered himself the epitome of right and justice, and so suffered a catastrophic existence failure. Thankfully a friendly had loaned them a pocket plane to fight in, since neither side wanted to deal with collateral damage, both being "good guys". His existential crisis got really messy.

Last week's session was "Sleigh Ride, but if Hans Zimmer wrote it instead of Leroy Anderson."
(we nearly died of cold exposure but the Found Steed and the Barb with Moon Druid levels pulled through, literally)

The World Warriors would be more effective against shadowloo if they ganged up and fought them all at once.

Re: Describe what happened in your last dnd sessionone word or phrase
Cut a deal with a red dragon because the copper dragon was being annoying, which ended up as an acid trip having to resist a lot of acid.

Re: Describe what happened in your last dnd sessionone word or phrase
Fireball, unlike beauty, is not in the eye of the beholder -- it's slightly to one side, just out of the anti magic cone. A pair of upraised middle fingers, however, was quite visible.
That's the second significant for my bard has killed with a single target fireball. He really needs better single target damage effects.

Is that you as player, or you as DM?
(Why am I getting a distinct "what mountain?" premonition here ... is it the coffee wearing off, or is this party heading north to set of "a second Krakatoa" like we might have done had we not paid closer attention to the impacts of the spirit of that volcano?)

Me as DM. That's the party that's in the Nocthian Caldera (Yonas's homeland). And the "200-mile volcano" is the spirit of the caldera (or at least the central mini-volcano, but it's tied together). It was getting a bit miffed about something evil there, claiming it was a violation of the contract that kept it bound and quiet for the last several thousand years.
Technically, in-world, they're still in early winter 251 AC. So about the same time you all were with the dwarves. Which makes me glad they managed to pull off defeating the evil thing without their fall-back of "get everyone out and let the caldera blow."
